Well everyone I am back from vacation and back to the grind. Usually I would just consider the worst part of coming back from vacation to be coming back to work, but while I was gone I found myself a little bit dreading coming back to blogging, not necessarily the act of blogging itself but more so the stress that I bring into blogging which is a weird feeling for me. I do love this site, I love all of you and I am not going anywhere but I do need to bring a bit of joy back to this for myself and in turn for you!
Running a site and striving to, well i don’t really know what I’ve been striving to do, but whatever it is, it is a almost like a full time job. There is coming up with material, finding the time to write it, spending time on social media sites connecting with all of you (which is my favorite part!) and there is also connecting with retailers, answering emails and a million other tasks at hand. To keep all this up and to do it well you really have to LOVE IT and WANT TO DO IT, otherwise it starts to feel like a job and in most cases a job that doesnt even pay! Makes it all sound a little crazy doesnt it?
When I started this it was hobby, it was something that added enrichment into my life and made me happy, was a creative outlet and break from the mundane but over time I have let my perfectionist nature take over and when I didn’t post this weekend I felt guilty about it. Thats not what doing what you love is supposed to do is it? I don’t think so. So I have been thinking about it and I need to get back to the basics. I need to not set in stone that I will do certain posts on certain days, I need to have some flexibility and post whatever I’m feeling when I’m feeling it. Now don’t get me wrong I still want fresh content everyday but if I miss a day I don’t want to feel bad about it. I want to mix it up and make it fun again, make it about creativity and clothes and the things I love because that is what is important to me. I want to stop looking at stats as an indicator of this sites worth but how it makes my heart feel and the response I get from you the readers to be the driving force behind it.
So with that in mind I want to know what is important to you! What do you like that I have been doing, what do you not like? How do you feel about the consistency of outfit posts, about Drool-Worthy Dresses, do we want more reviews? Are you missing my wordier or ranty posts, should I tackle more topics?
What do you think? I want to know!
In the mean time I am going to keep doing what I’m doing but trying a few new things here and there. Stay tuned it could be interesting!
Also the first week of June I will be launching a new giveaway this one for my twitter followers! So make sure you are following me so you don’t miss out!

What I like best is YOU. I do like your drool worthy dresses and reviews, but what I like best is pictures of you posing on swans like a crazy person. I read quite a few blogs, but the ones I always enjoy most are the ones where I can connect to the blogger. I like your rants and stories behind the pictures. You’re definitely the best part of your blog.

Stiletto – you do a great blog…
You will do a great blog if you cut down to once every second day – or even just a couple times each week… J is a perfect example of someone who posts on a more weekly basis and because her posts are so spot-on – she maintains readers/viewers etc.
I have made a point of posting just a couple of times each week. That for me means I can maintain enjoyment. I only even have an outfit post if -
a) My boyfriend is around to take photos
b) I feel like dressing up the day my boyfriend is around to take photos.
c) I feel like blogging an outfit post.
I love blogging, but I only have time to look through blogs about twice a week. I don’t apologise for that… I just enjoy it and make sure I comment where I want and that way also enjoy posting those comments. I never comment out of a feeling of obligation.
Maybe that is an approach to try. You need to take the pressure off. I find that the blog-o-sphere can be a little intense, so I just back out. I barely tweet on the weekends – really only if I can’t sleep and I need some mental stimulation at 2am. I refuse to engage in anonymous things like formspring and also – rarely comment when people start being bitchy or bitching. I just think my time is too precious to engage in things like that – which I don’t enjoy… but then I also allow other people that space – I know some people LOVE formspring!
Cut yourself a break and reassess what you are actually enjoying. Much as you do this for your readers – you surely do this for yourself, first? I love your outfit posts and allow myself to scroll your DWDOTD only when I log in to look at your outfits and read your writing… BUT if you love your Drool Worthy dresses – you NEED to keep them. Keep what you love or find emphasis there.
I know this is long… but I just don’t believe in keeping my mouth shut when I feel so passionate.
xxx.
You are right Em, thanks for the advice, i need to really take the pressure off. I have a tendencey to hold myself at really high standards and it can be a bit insane! I might take a step back on the DWD’s a bit make it only when i truly came across something and and drooling over it rather then having to hunt something I love down everyday.
You are a doll!

Love,
Its so wierd you posted this cause I’m in the same mode. I had the fashion show and just the thought of blogging about my anything after was making me dread having to sit down and type. So I think I will take Boombands advice, only blog what I want every once and a while so I have more time to write and go to retailers to interview. Focus on the writing more so than the pics of self… however… I love your pics… cause they look soooo professional, and I love the DWD… Actually your blog is perfect the way it is… I’m no help… sorry…
I think there is a bit of the blog burnout going around right now but I think it will pass and we all have been working really hard, its normal to need a break!
Love you!

welcome back hun! i hear ya … work bites, but at least we have work right? i think all of us bloggers feel the same way once in a while. but personally, i read blogs because i want to see other people’s style and get inspired. so i love OOTD posts. also, i love a bargain/great finds and i love it when bloggers post about great finds such as ure dress of the day … so i love that. and i also love u! i believe that a person’s style says a lot about the person. and ure style exudes sassiness, fun, and being carefree …. and thats AWESOME! keep on girl and who cares if u dont post everyday? i know ill wait for u…
It’s summer time.. you deserve to relax like anyone else!
Also, you already write for a magazine where you write for an audience. I thought this was more of a personal outlet for yourself.. hmm?
Thanks Alexis you are too sweet! By the way I miss family time, we need to get together sometime for drinks or something!
